Workshop Info

        Joe Leonard hosts various workshops throughout the year at numerous locations in the United States. Workshops range from 1 to 5 days and are structured to accommodate skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Please see the Workshop Schedule page for the current list of workshops and locations.

        If you have an idea for a workshop or would like a workshop to be held at your facility, please contact Joe Leonard for details.

        Please note that students are required to bring their own carving tools to the workshops.

One and Two Day Workshops

- Skill Level - Beginner to Intermediate
• - Pricing - $75 to $300 (Includes carving blank)
• - Tools Required - Call or email for details.
• - Basic sharpening skills are covered
• - Students are supervised through the completion of an instructor chosen project.
• - Students may request to bring their own projects. Prior approval must be obtained
  
•    from Joe Leonard before bringing an outside project to a scheduled workshop.

Five Day Workshops

- Skill Level - Beginner to Intermediate
- Pricing - $850 to $950 (Includes roughed out carving blank)
- Tools Required
• - Mallet
• - Small carving knife
• - V-Tools - #12/10 and #12/3
• - Gouges - #11/3, #11/7, and #11/10
• - Bent Gouge - #7/6
• - Straight Chisels - #1/12E and #1/20E
• - Skew Edge - #10/12
- Basic sharpening skills are covered
-This class focuses on the tools and techniques for carving a detailed full scale or

  half scale Horse Head and Neck. (Additional workshops are available to carve
  a complete Carousel Horse. Please contact Joe Leonard for details.)
  Students may request to bring their own projects. Prior approval must be obtained

  from Joe Leonard before bringing an outside project to a scheduled workshop.

* Note - The majority of students do not complete their project in the 5 days allotted. The goal of the workshop is to provide the student with enough knowledge, in those 5 days, to be able to complete the project at their own pace and at their own facility.
